Obituary: Miriam Louise Weber
Memorial services for Miriam Louise Weber, 89, who died atThe Village in Indianola, Iowa, Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016,will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, in the HeritageRoom at The Village.
Miriam was born Dec. 15, 1927, in Vernon County, to Earland Viratine Cade Weber. She grew up on the farm nearViroqua. She graduated from Viroqua High School in 1945,and from Simpson College in Indianola. While in college,she became involved with the work of the Warren CountyGroup Ministry and worked with the youth group at CenterChapel United Methodist Church for 12 years.
In 1958, Miriam enrolled at Boston University School ofTheology, where she received her Master's degree inChristian education in 1961. She then returned to theMidwest and accepted the position of Director of ChristianEducation at Trinity United Methodist Church in ChippewaFalls, Wis., for 18 years. Her last place of employment wasHanscom Park United Methodist Church in Omaha, where sheserved for 11 years until her retirement in 1990.
Miriam was a letter writer and kept in touch with manyrelatives and friends who had touched her life over theyears.
Two special trips, one to the Holy Land, and one toGermany, were big events she enjoyed in later years.
Following retirement, she moved back to Wisconsin, andlived with her dad until he died in 2000. She then moved toKnoxville, Iowa, to be near family. That was followed by amove to The Village in 2007.
Miriam's memory will be cherished by her family andfriends; sister, Marjorie Moore of Indianola; brother,Richard Weber and wife, Eloise of Platteville, Wis.; sixnieces and nephews, Ann Johnson of Norwalk, Kathleen Mooreof Mason City, Philip Moore and wife, Char Heitman ofEugene, Ore., Carol Zumwalt and husband, Ronald ofIndianola, Kristen Weber and Ebbie Duggins of Milwaukee;seven great-nieces and nephews, Samuel Zumwalt and RachelZumwalt of Indianola, Andrew Zumwalt of West Des Moines,Jennifer Zumwalt Jones and her husband, Joe of Indianola,Kurt Johnson of Phoenix, Rio Heitman-Moore of Eugene, andCody Herrod of Nashville.
Memorials may be given to The Good Shepherd Fund at TheVillage, or any of the United Methodist Churches she was amember of. Online condolences may be made atwww.overtonfunerals.com. [2]
