- Joseph's first wife, Catherine, died in 1915. Although hername is not in the Rensselaer county interment list, thereis a record of Joseph purchasing a single burial lot in1915. This was in the Old cemetery. In 1943 it would appearhe was buried in the New cemetery.

Joseph Sprague died at his residence in North HoosickWednesday after a long illness. He was born in Cambridge 65years ago, but had lived in the Town of Hoosick for fortyyears. He was employed at the Colasta Co. of Hoosick Fallsuntil his retirement because of ill health a few yers ago.He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.
Survivors are his widow, the former Cora Brown, twodaughtrers, Mrs. Richard Flaming of Somerville, Mass., andMrs. Walter Strope of Picos, Tex. and nine sons, Douglas,Camp Rucker, Ala., Joseph Jr., with the Marine Corpsoverseas, Carlton, who is at Seymour Johnson Field, N.C.,Kenneth stationed at an Army camp in Hartford, Harold ofWest Arlington, Vt., and Malcolm, Ensign, Everett and JamesSprague, all of North Hoosick. He leaves also a brother,Louis Sprague, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Stannard both ofRutland; eigh grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the residence todayat 2 pl.m. with the Rev. Jerald C. Potts, rector of St.Mark's Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be inMaple Grove Cemetery, Hoosick Falls. [3]

I did not find Joseph in the 1865 New York census and Iassume he has moved to Vermont by then. He married BetseyAnn Monroe/Munroe. I have been unable to locate a marriagedate in the Vermont vital records that are online but thereare two sources which refer to their marriage -
