Ruel, correspondent (in response to aquestion on conflict of birth dates between Ira Ross Abbeyand  Leslie Mark Abbey.I have not figured out what the truth with this one isyet.  Both of these records were obtained from theState vital records as follows: *Ira Ross Abbey died 7/25/20 in Barre.  Age: 5y17d.Birthplace: VT. Born: 5/5/20. Father: Ira Abbey.  Father's birthplace: Randolph. Mother: Agnes Devine.  Mother's birthplace: Waterbury. Cause: gastroenteritus. Contributing cause: malnutrition. *Male, Leslie Mark Abbie born 2/15/20.  Birthplace:Barre. 1st child. Father: Ira.  Father's Age: 24. Mother: Agnes. Mother's Age: 20. Please notice that if Ira had died in July 1920, he wouldhave only been 2 months old, not five years old. Since he died of malnutrition, I tend to believe that hisage was probably 5 months, 17 days instead.  Perhapshe was lactose intolerant or something.  Plus hisparents had only been married since 1919.  Therefore,I believe that when I look into this further to verify itsomehow, that Leslie and Ira will turn out to be the samechild.  Generally, I will turn to the birth record asbeing most accurate concerning the birth, since it has beensome time when the child dies and who knows who hasanswered the questions on the death certificate.  Thebirthmonth of May for Ira could have been a two.  Theonly reason I show Ira as the youngest child is that Ididn't put the children in order after I had entered them.Sometimes the records are difficult to read.  Eitherway, the 17 days doesn't jive with either date.  Iwill let you know if I find out anything else on this.
